How Wudhu Can Transform Productivity

Benefits of Wudhu in tech ERA

Wudhu can transform productivity for tech professionals. Tech jobs and a sedentary lifestyle are the new norms of this century. The majority of millennials and Gen Z are also used to this lifestyle. Our issues and values are different from those of older generations. We need to revisit our religious practices and values to find solutions to modern problems.

How I found About Wudhu can Transform Productivity:

I have been freelancing for 7 years. When freelancing, I often had to sit in front of the computer for hours. The eyes would get tired, the shoulders would feel stiff, and the neck would be constantly cramping. Sometimes it seemed as if the brain refused to think. One day, a client asked me to write a research article on Wudhu (ablution) and what are its scientific benefits. As I researched its medical benefits, I came across one surprising fact after another. Wudhu is the Islamic procedure for washing parts of the body, typically done before prayers. It’s a ritual purification process that involves washing the hands, mouth, nostrils, arms, head, and feet.

How to Perform Wudhu (Ablution)

  • Intention (Niyyah): Silently intend to perform Wudhu for purification (e.g., “I intend to perform Wudhu to purify myself for prayer”).
  • Wash Hands: Wash both hands up to the wrists 3 times, ensuring water reaches between fingers.
  • Rinse Mouth: Take water into your mouth, swish thoroughly, and spit it out 3 times.
  • Clean the Nose: Inhale water into the nostrils (using the right hand) and exhale it (using the left hand) 3 times.
  • Wash the Face: Wash the entire face from hairline to chin and ear to ear 3 times.
  • Wash Arms: Wash the right arm up to the elbow 3 times, then the left arm 3 times.
  • Wipe the Head (Masah): Wet hands and wipe the entire head once, from the forehead to the back of the neck and back to the forehead.
  • Wipe the Ears: Use the same water to wipe the inner ears with index fingers and the outer ears with thumbs once.
  • Wash Feet: Wash the right foot up to the ankles 3 times, ensuring water between toes. Repeat for the left foot.

A few ways of Wudhu (Ablution) Transform Productivity:

Washing Face in Wudhu transform face:

Wudhu can transform productivity by positively improving face. Fresh faces increase confidence which reflects in performance. Washing the face with ablution is light, but when the water from ablution falls on the face, it refreshes the skin. However, the real perfection is in the blood vessels and nervous system. Washing the face stimulates the Bluffarin Nerve around the eyes, which helps in improving vision. Especially after staring at a screen all day, the coolness of the ablution water acts as a refreshment.

Washing Hands in Wudhu transform health:

Wudhu can improve productivity by improving health. Hand washing is also not common in tech professionals which leads weak immune system. Our skin harbors bacteria such as streptococcus and staphylococcus, which can cause infections over time. Research says that washing hands several times a day not only reduces bacteria but also improves the body’s immunity. And in ablution, we do this five times.

Wiping Neck (Misah) in Wudhu transform neurological health:

Wudhu can improve productivity by improving neurological health. The scientific research found on the neck swab was astonishing. Because the neck is something we tend to ignore throughout the day, even though it’s where our mind and body connect. Once I noticed that whenever I get tired, I unconsciously move my hands to the back of my neck and start massaging. Isn’t this just a coincidence? Probably not! The human body naturally does what is beneficial to it.

When the neck is wiped in ablution, it is not just a touch of water, but a complete neurological boost. The neck contains many important arteries, nerves, and lymph nodes, which control the brain, heart, and other parts of the body. When we apply gentle water to the neck, we are refreshing it all. Also, I read in the same study that there are two major arteries in the neck, the carotid arteries, which supply blood to the brain. According to research, applying gentle pressure to the neck (as in ablution) makes these arteries work better, providing more oxygen and nutrients to the brain.

Wudhu can improve mind body connection:

Maybe you too have felt the state of “brain shutdown” during work like me. It happens when the brain is not getting enough oxygen. Wiping the neck during ablution acts as a natural reboot system, which improves brain performance and increases concentration.

Hear another great fact here! There is a very special nerve in the neck, called the Vagus Nerve. This nerve controls many important functions in the body, such as heart rate, breathing, and stress levels.

Wudhu can transform Stress management:

According to a study published in the “Journal of Neuroscience”, gentle water application or pressure on the neck stimulates the vagus nerve, which reduces cortisol (stress hormone) levels and increases happy hormones (endorphins, serotonin). The result? Peace of mind, less stress, and better mood!

This is why when you sit after performing ablution, you feel a strange freshness. It is not just water cooling; the mental system is getting a kind of natural therapy. Also, if sleep is disturbed, it means that your Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is not balanced. The ANS is divided into two parts:

Wudhu can transform Sleep cycle:

Rubbing the neck in ablution stimulates the parasympathetic system, which improves sleep. According to a study in the “Sleep Medicine Journal”, applying mild cooling to the neck increases the production of a hormone called melatonin in the brain, which helps in deep and restful sleep. I have also noted that the night I forget to perform ablution and sleep without ablution, sleep is necessarily disturbed and bad dreams also start to dominate.

Wudhu can reduce stress induced headaches:

According to a study published in the “American Journal of Neurology,” applying gentle moisture or pressure to the back of the neck can reduce Cervicogenic Headaches (headaches caused by neck tension) by 30-40%.

Wudhu reduce chance of Mental illnesses:

Wiping the neck during ablution relaxes the neck muscles, which improves blood flow, and some research has even found that neck wiping has been linked to the prevention of mental illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. According to research published in the “Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease,” people who apply water or gentle pressure to the neck daily have fewer memory problems and maintain mental health longer.

Conclusion:

Ever since I read all this research, ablution has become a natural Neurotherapy that I take seriously. Now, whenever I feel tired during work, or my mind feels heavy, I perform ablution and especially wipe my neck with full attention. The mind clears, the mind feels lighter, and energy flows throughout the body.

If you also sit at a computer all day doing freelancing or other mental work, give it a try. Perform ablution, and all members of the ablution must perform it in the best manner to reap the blessings of ablution as well as adopt it as a neurological boost. You will be surprised how powerful this process is!!!

Bonus Tip: Create a productive and healthy MORNING ROUTINE.
